If you do not teach your best friend not to urinate and poop at home, he will not be your friend for long!
Success at home is by far the most important element of a long term relationship between you and your dog. Fortunately, informing and training a small dog does not complicate the theft of a puppy or an adult dog. In this article you will learn how to housebreak your dog. All you have to do is avoid urinating and shitting at home and rewarding yourself, urinating and shitting outside. The application of this simple concept is not difficult, but requires care, commitment and patience. Believe me, the rewards are worth it.
Here are five dog rules that guide your groundbreaking training:
Adult dogs can be homemade like puppies:- If you adopt an adult dog, you may not need to worry about breaking into the house if you have been properly trained. Dogs, even the smart ones, of course, do not know that it is wrong to go to the bathroom. They must be trained and most adult dogs are. But you can not assume that this is still the case. If the dog has always been kept outside, reared in a cage, poorly trained in a puppy mill, or poorly trained by a previous owner, he must start over again and break the house with the same basic techniques he would use for a puppy dog. Adult dogs do not have to walk as often as puppies, which greatly facilitates their training. Note, however, that accidents in adults can lead to greater problems!
Puppies have limited control over their bladder and bowels:
- A puppy less than 20 weeks should go to the toilet once an hour. A very young puppy (younger than 12 weeks) has to walk more often, possibly every 30 minutes or more.
- For an older puppy, the general rule for determining the number of hours you can spend without going to the toilet is to specify your age in months and add one. As a result, a four-month-old could keep him for about five hours. Small breeds usually can not stand that long. Generally, larger breeds can last a little longer. Keep in mind that this is a general rule and that the ability to control your puppy is different.
- When puppies sleep, they usually can last a little longer. But please do not think that a puppy who can keep him sleeping for six hours can keep him awake so long that he just can not!
Dogs like to sleep in a clean place:
- If you have the choice, dogs and humans will never sleep in a urine or feces area. In the wild, a dog, wolves, coyotes, foxes, etc. They sleep in a cave and go out to relieve themselves. Your puppies learn the same.
- Dogs will do their best not to pollute their sleeping place. Your puppy is less likely to urinate or poop in a small "cave" or confined space. If you confine the puppy to a cave each time you can not keep an eye on it, make sure it does not have the bad habit of moving to another location in the house. I would recommend training your puppy in a cage, as in his own cave. This will be a safe place for your puppies to relax, chew toys and sleep. Training your dog in a cage is a great way to clear houses, provided you follow the rule below.
Dogs do better if they follow a routine plan:
- If you feed your dog at a certain time, you can go to the bathroom on a regular basis. If you let your dog eat and drink when he wants, he can predict less when the puppy should go to the bathroom. Anyway, take them regularly in the morning, always after the meal or shortly thereafter and several times a day, then again at bedtime at night.
